If I told you it took me more than ten years to read, would you believe me? It's a very long book! Interminable! I just finished today, after purchasing this book in 2005, and reading it regularly since about November of last year. I kind of wish there were an abridged version of about 200 pages or so.At any rate, former President Clinton said it was the most influential book he'd read, and in conspiracy circles, the rumors were always that the author was asked to catalog and organize records of the New World Order. So, in spite of Mr. Clinton's positive recommendation (that guy's a clown), I went looking for evidence of conspiracies, and indeed, found them. They're certainly in there. The basics of it are secular humanism, or, if you will, "civilizing the natives." Imagine a Brit beneath the skin saying, "Wouldn't it be great if all countries were as diplomatic and as orderly as the British? And if we all accepted English as a common language? And Anglophilism as a basis for modern culture?"
He's an American, but with strong British sympathies. He does agree that these rich people that run modern Europe (more akin to Masons), are even more secretive than we foil-hat wearers say they are.
What's more, is that his reading of history is downright insightful. He's obviously a brilliant man. That is inarguable. Whether he's wrong about Anglophilism being the way the world should be, or that Western Civilization never reconciled itself with Christianity being the dominant issue that we face (I agree with that one) -- both those are ancillary to the general perspecuity with which he views the world. It's like he wears x-ray specs.
I found his passages about the middle class towards the end of the book almost mind-blowing. He even predicts the modern climate today in his passages about "Irrational Activism", and one has to remind himself, "This book was written in 1964!" He predicts the emasculating climate of sexism that exists today that, while it claims that sexism exists against females, it opposes any balance with the male gender. As a male, I read many interesting things that go unsaid by our culture. Because if they are said by our culture, they go against the tide of feminism.

This book written by Pres. Bill Clinton's mentor is excellent. Prof. Carroll Quigley put it out there. The Illuminiti's plans. For a long time this book was off the market until a women's writer Christian group bought the rights and brought it back to the market. Was delighted to see was selling. I would recommend this book before someone pulls it off the For Sale lists again.
If you want to truly understand the power structures of our planet, you owe it to yourself to read this book. Quigley provides an unvarnished view of the political/economic system.
I love His-Story, with all the Truth An Lies.
Reading this has been a tale of who done it.
Putting History in Order can An should be done. Then an only then can it truly be comprehensive. Until then it’s just fractions of half Truths. Anway this is a Big Thick Book with small words on thin pages.
It does tell a lots of what I’ve read before. Just not in the conspiracy sort of way.
Just more of this is who did it and those who went along with it and how it came to be.
So far not tired. My eyes might be, but not my brain. Read it. An don’t complain. If your looking for a quick read find something else.
If you don’t understand something look it up on the internet or dictionary.

best book on history of the 1860 to the 1960's of every important bit of history of the world, teaches you about why you have republics vs monarchies/ dictatorship around the world, shows you that most countries have rich elites. that really run things in every country and shows you where they came about from the the 1800's to now. Has a whole host of other interesting things to do with economics, war and why the wars started, and the people who shaped the world and why it runs the way it does. If you want to understand why things are the way they are and understand greatly then this book is probably one of the best books you could read.
This is an exhaustive and at times exhausting overview of 19th and 20th century world history up to the time the book was published around 1966. Thorough, clearly organized, lots of names, dates and data to substantiate assertions and conclusions. Mr Quigley even rolls the dice, as a historian, and extrapolates the main themes of the book to what the next 20 to 50 years would bring socially, politically, economically and militarily. Looking back on those 50 years (I'm 57), it seems to me he got a lot of it right. If you are in grad school and looking for thesis topics, you'll find hundreds of meaty ones here. His conclusion "the tragedy of the period covered by this book is obvious,"...in misunderstanding, missed opportunities, misguided nationalism and irrationalism. As for hope, it may seem quaint and old-fashioned, but there seems to be no effective substitute for "generosity, compassion, cooperation, rationality, and foresight, and finding an increased role in human life for love, spirituality, charity and self-discipline." Reminds me of what a man from Galilee once said...
We must be thankful for this reproduction of the original. Later editions have removed essential portions. Quigley's work lays out broad international forces at work in the past, and in the present. He was a brave, conservative scholar. Buy the book, then attempt to absorb it.
For any person wanting to know the truth, this is a good start. It still is suppression of some of the truth on most pages... but the deep economic reasons are here lined out with historical vigor and greatness... and too a deep insider's facts. At least we find behind the Establishment's actions an understandable power, but too a sad verification of its immorality... foretelling 911 and our shrinking Constitutional rights today. One of the greatest works of history ever written.
To get the final jolt read Douglas Read's taboo, "The Controversy of Zion," for a much deeper insight into the same events.
